"Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District."
Senior Elizabeth Meyer submitted her painting to the competition and was chosen as the winner by Jodey Arrington for District 19. Her painting will be displayed in the US Capital for one year. Additionally, winning the competition comes with a trip to the US Capitol to take a picture with her painting on display this summer. She made the painting from a photograph she took of her father. He complains that she made his butt look to big.
Pictured is Elizabeth, her art teacher Leslie White, and her painting.
